To work with all of the new transmission components, the new Super Record 12 Speed chain was redesigned from scratch. As a result, its overall dimensions were reduced as much as possible. With the new pins aligned perfectly with the links' surfaces, its width is now 5.15 millimetres.

Keeping its performance in check was the second objective. This was accomplished by the Ultra-link system, which makes the chain incredibly durable and safe.
